Reports to General Manager, Dining Room Manager
General Description: Responsible for entering and managing guest reservations; providing a warm welcome to guests entering Kissaki; guiding guests to their table and providing an introduction to their menus and server; offering a genuine farewell and thank you to departing guests; taking of phone orders and handing off of take-out orders to customers. Hours: 30-40  a week
 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Operations:

  • Create and print menus for all private dining and events
  • Answer guest phone calls and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to guest questions
  • Take phone orders for pick-up accurately and efficiently
  • Organize pick-up orders to ensure a seamless, fast handoff to customer
  • Call to confirm reservations, as applicable, prior to each shift
  • Make reservations for guests, offering alternatives when the desired slot is not available
  • Manage the flow of reservations for each shift to ensure optimal seating pattern and service
  • Assist management in creating floor plan and table arrangement for the shift, as requested
  • Ensure dining room is properly set for guests prior to service
  • Set host stand for service, ensuring all resources (menus, paper, pens, business cards, etc.) are stocked
  • Provide management with roll-up of reservations prior to each shift, highlighting of any large parties, special reservation notes and/or VIP guests
  • Welcome guests with a smile; provide hospitable service, even when under pressure
  • Maintain cleanliness of entrance and other waiting areas throughout shift by sweeping, cleaning windows and doors, arranging chairs, etc.
  • Ensure servers are seated as equitably as possible throughout the shift
  • Check in with guests, ensuring satisfaction and addressing any concerns or complaints 
  • Complete closing side work checklist for shift daily 
  • Update knowledge and skills by participating in educational opportunities
  • Maintain sanitation to DOH standards; keep work area clean and organized 
  • Inform manager on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
  • Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management 

Essential Functions:

  • The ability to proficiently speak, understand, read and write in English
  • The ability to give and follow written and verbal direction
  • The ability to understand basic math
  • The ability to use a complex reservations system, and other technologies as required by Kissaki
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • The ability to lift at least 30 pounds on a regular basis
  • The ability to bend, stoop, stand and perform extensive walking for 8-10 hours a day
  • The ability to adapt to a fast-paced and challenging work environment
  • The ability to approach their work with a sense of ownership and work with a sense of urgency
  • The ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and a variable schedule, per the needs of the business
  • The ability to perform essential job functions under pressure and maintain professionalism when under stress
  • The ability to consistently meet Kissaki’s hygiene and grooming standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • The ability to adhere to posted schedule and clock in/out at times
  • The ability to adhere to all HR policies and guidelines
  • The ability to adhere to all Kissaki and/or state and local COVID related health and safety guidelines
Work Experience Requirements
  • 1+ years’ experience as a Host of similar caliber concept 
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, preferred
  • TIPS Certification, preferred
