Job Title: Bartender
Department: FOH
Reports to: General Manager, Dining Room Manager
Responsible for preparing, mixing and serving consistently excellent beverages to guests either directly at the bar or through serving staff; following all standard operating procedures and recipes; maintaining dining ambiance and overall cleanliness and presentation of the space.
Type of position:   Seasonal Hours: 30-40 / week       Exempt      Nonexempt
REQUIREMENTS
Operations:

  • Complete opening side work checklist for shift daily
  • Set up the bar; fill wells with ice, prepare fruit trays, restock the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices; stock trash etc.
  • Count the cash register at the start and close of each shift
  • Greet customers immediately with a smile and present beverage menus
  • Make recommendations and answer all menu inquiries
  • Maintain expert knowledge of all menu offerings
  • Take orders from guests, ensuring 100% accuracy when entering orders into POS
  • Handle allergies with the utmost care, consulting with the kitchen and ringing orders with the proper modifiers
  • Deal with guest complaints by finding a way to say yes; involve the manager on duty as needed
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes
  • Peel, slice and pit fruit for garnishing beverages, following Kissaki’s standards
  • Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • Check identification of all customers who appear under 30 to verify they are of legal drinking age prior to serving them
  • Process transactions using the POS system; prepare checks for guests and process payments
  • Process financials on shift-by-shift basis, including submitting accurate cash sales
  • Accurately report cash and credit card tips and contribute to tip pool as applicable
  • Maintain loss prevention standards as outlined in Employee Handbook, including cash handling procedures and tip handling 
  • Maintain the organization, cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of bar counter and displays
  • Maintain sanitation to DOH standards; Keep work area clean and organized 
  • Inform manager on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations 
  • Inform management of any product or supply needs
  • Complete closing side work checklist for shift daily, including cleaning the bar and securing all alcoholic product
  • Perform weekly beverage and beverage supply inventories.
  • Update knowledge and skills continually by participating in staff training opportunities
  • Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management 

Essential Functions:

  • The ability to proficiently speak, understand, read and write in English
  • The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction

  • The ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • The ability to bend, stoop, stand and perform extensive walking for 8-10 hours a day
  • The ability to adapt to a fast-paced and challenging work environment
  • The ability to approach their work with a sense of ownership and work with a sense of urgency
  • The ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and a variable schedule, per the needs of the business
  • The ability to perform essential job functions under pressure and maintain professionalism when under stress
  • The ability to consistently meet Kissaki’s hygiene and grooming standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • The ability to adhere to posted schedule and clock in/out at times
  • The ability to adhere to all HR policies and guidelines
  • The ability to adhere to all Kissaki and/or state and local COVID related health and safety guidelines 
Work Experience Requirements 2+ years’ experience as a bartender of similar caliber sushi concept
Education Requirements : High school diploma or GED, preferred, TIPS Certification, preferred
